Concordia-Moorhead scored three second half goals to beat the Scots 3-1 Sunday night at Macalester Stadium in an NCAA Division III second-round playoff game as the Scots wind up their season with a 14-6-3 record.  No. 8-ranked Concordia, the MIAC regular-season champs, improve to 18-0-2 and move on to the Sweet 16, where they will play next weekend against Lynchburg (Va.).  Jordan Eckstein scored Macalester's goal. Riding on camels and living in yurts were just part of the summer for Maddie Mette, a senior from Burnsville and a two-time All-MIAC defender for the women's soccer team, spent late July and early August in Mongolia taking part in a geology research trip.  Mette was a member of a Keck Geology Consortium field excursion that took several professors and a dozen students to a remote section of southwestern Mongolia to study fossils and rocks in the Gobi-Altai area. Macalester shut out visiting St. Scholastica 3-0 in an opening-round NCAA Division III playoff match and will take on MIAC rival Concordia-Moorhead in a second-round contest tomorrow at 6 p.m. at Macalester Stadium. Emily Bardwell netted her 15th and 16th goals of the season and Erica DeJong scored her first career goal to lead the Scots, who out-shot the Saints 8-0 in attempts on net. View Bardwell's first goal

Three Macalester standouts have been named to the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) all-conference squad as selected by league coaches: defender Maddie Mette, midfielder Maddy Cochrane  and forward Emily Bardwell.  These three led Macalester to a third-place 7-3-1 conference mark and 13-5-2 overall record heading into this weekend’s national playoffs.
