Macalester runs at region meet; Ekstrom advances to nationals

11.14 | Men's Cross Country

Macalester ran in the 25-team NCAA Division III Central Region championships at Grinnell, Ia., and placed 15th. Wade Ekstrom qualified for next weekend’s NCAA championships in Cleveland by placing 10th overall out of 173 runner, completing the 8-kilometer course at Oakland Acres Golf Course in 25:20.1. Ten of the top 11 finishers were from the MIAC.

Ekstrom paces Macalester at MIAC championships

10.31 | Men's Cross Country

After placing 10th at last year’s meet, Wade Ekstrom placed fifth to lead the way for Macalester Saturday at the MIAC championships at Como Park Golf Course in St. Paul. Ekstrom finished the 8000-meter course in 26:01.4. The Scots placed ninth in the team standings.

The highlight of the cross country season is the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) championships, scheduled for this Saturday (Oct. 31) at Como Park Golf Course in St. Paul. The women’s race is scheduled for 2:15 p.m., while the men will run at 3:15 p.m. Admission is free. Each Macalester team is led by returning All-MIAC runners: Erin Lowrey for the women and Wade Ekstrom for the men.

Scots race in 462-runner Jim Drews Invitational

10.17 | Men's Cross Country

Macalester placed 23rd out of 29 teams at the very large Wisconsin-La Crosse Jim Drews Invitational, the team’s final prep for the Oct. 31 MIAC championships. Wade Ekstrom once again paced the Scots, placing 10th out of 462 finishers with a personal-best 25:00.6 time. The team’s next two runners were Carl Biggers and Ollie St. John.
