Twenty-two grads return for alumni game

The current Scots knocked off the alums 4-0 in the second annual baseball alumni game. Twenty-two graduates participated on the alumni team. "I find it very satisfying so many alums want to play in this game, said head coach Matt Parrington. “It really helps our current players see the passion these alums have for the game of baseball, as well as giving their time back to the program."

Scots host alumni game September 27th

As Macalester Baseball finishes up fall practices, the team prepares to host its annual alumni game on Sunday, September 27 at 12:00 noon on Nicholson Field. The Mac Scots will play alumni from various years. Come show your support and watch as the Scots start their second year on Nicholson Field with what looks like a talented lineup.

Mat O'Brien named new Macalester pitching coach

Macalester head baseball coach Matt Parrington announces the hiring of Mat O’Brien as the program’s new pitching coach. O’Brien joins the coaching staff at Macalester with an impressive resume. He brings head coaching experience to the program after compiling a 65-23 record at Cotter High School in Winona, Minn., earning Section 1A Coach of the Year honors after the 2006 and 2008 seasons.

Murrey pitching in Prospect League

Macalester ace James Murrey (Western Springs, Ill. / Lyons Township) is pitching this summer in the Prospect League as a member of the Danville Dans. Most of the league’s players come from the NCAA Division I level and the league has produced numerous major league players. Murrey, who will be a senior at Macalester next season, is a three-time All-MIAC and two-time All-Midwest region choice. He is 19-9 with a 2.35 ERA through three seasons at Macalester and has struck out 198 batters in 172 innings of work.
